Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner John Tizard and MP Richard Fuller will join the Biggleswade Community Policing Team for a special Market Day walkabout, part of the nationwide Safer Streets Summer Initiative. Biggleswade has been designated as a place for high-visibility policing and partnership activities aimed at preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, protecting local businesses, and building confidence among residents and visitors.

These actions, supported by local authorities and businesses, are already delivering tangible improvements and providing valuable insight for future enforcement.

John Tizard, Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner said:

“I was delighted to be joined by Richard Fuller, MP and the Mayor of Biggleswade to speak to local shop owners and staff, marker stall holders and shoppers about safety in Biggleswade Town Centre.

“As part of the Home Office Safer Streets, Safer Town Centres initiative we have been enhancing policing and local authority enforcement in the town centre over the summer to tackle retail crime, anti-social behaviour and other street crime. We plan to continue this collaborative approach after the summer ends.

“Town Centres such as Biggleswade play an important role in the economic and social wellbeing of our communities. I am committed to ensuring that they are safe places to visit and to work in.”

Richard Fuller, MP for North Bedfordshire said:

“This is an important opportunity for people to meet the Community Policing Team and PCC to have their say on community safety and town centre policing so I encourage local residents and business owners to come along.”

All are welcome to join the walkabout at 10am near Stratton Way and contribute to making Biggleswade a safer, thriving town for every season.
