Now is your chance to have your say on the priorities of the Police and Crime Commissioner for the next four years!

John Tizard, PCC for Bedfordshire, is committed to working alongside Bedfordshire Police and all its partners within the criminal justice system to show zero tolerance to crime and the causes of crime to provide a safer and fairer Bedfordshire.

This includes improving policing, reforming a broken criminal justice system, protecting victims and addressing the social and economic causes of crime in Bedfordshire.

The role of the PCC is strategic. The Commissioner is not responsible for operational decisions, such as the allocation of police to particulars areas or for specific duties, or for addressing specific criminal cases. However, PCC’s do set the budget and priorities for the Police and Crime Plan and hold the Chief Constable to account in its delivery.

In his consultation, he has listed his objectives for the first year of his term as short-term goals, then his longer-term commitments. They reflect what residents, local businesses, police officers, police staff and stakeholders across the county are telling him.

John Tizard, PCC says: “I very much look forward to hearing the views and ideas over the next few weeks before I finalise a Police and Crime Plan that will make our county safer and fairer.”
