Service
An emotional support service for victims of sexual violence that uses SENSE, a trauma informed therapeutic model delivered by specialist caseworkers highly trained in supporting survivors of sexual violence. Stabilisation - offering immediate support to address practical and emotional needs, this is important to establish a sense of safety. Education - provide information about the impacts of the trauma that has been experienced to help the individual cope with the situation. Normalisation - using what has been learnt about the individual to provide the reassurance that what they are feeling is very normal. Supporting - focus on what the individual needs to cope with their trauma and how we can increase their ability to do this by building their strengths. Engagement - look at other ways the individual can be supported, not just focussing on the psychological but finding other activities to help and facilitate connections.
