PCC announces the early opening of his Grant Fund of £1.6 million to support local community

PCC announces the early opening of his Grant Fund of £1.6 million to support local community

Police and Crime Commissioner Festus Akinbusoye has today announced the opening of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Grant Fund for 2022-23.

The Office of The Police and Crime Commissioner has invited community-based partners for a share of the Grant Fund totalling £1.6m.  The fund is split into two key areas, the Ministry of Justice Fund and the Community Safety Fund (CSF) and has been distributed by the OPCC to specific support areas.

Partners across Bedfordshire have been invited to bid into this annual opportunity which closes at midday on 15th October 2021.

Clare Kelly, Chief Executive of the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner said “The Commissioner is running the process earlier this year so that organisations have a longer lead in time. We are doing this in response to the last 18 months where many organisations have suffered due to the pandemic and would benefit from understanding their financial plans earlier.”

Commenting on the Fund, Police and Crime Commissioner Festus Akinbusoye said

“It is through the commissioning of services and awarding of grants that I am able to meet the priorities set out in my Police and Crime Plan.  I am fully committed to supporting as many services in Bedfordshire as I can and I am grateful to have been allocated these funds for the people of Bedfordshire.  We have put a real focus on how we and those we fund communicate with the people of Bedfordshire to ensure everyone knows about the opportunities and that they get a fair service across all of Bedfordshire. We also want to ensure bids are sustainable so people aren’t left without support at the end of a grant fund.”

The Office of The Police and Crime Commissioner will be fully transparent with the process and all partners will have sight of each fund and be invited to an open session with the Chief Executive to conclude the allocation of the funds.
