KEY DECISION
POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER FOR BEDFORDSHIRE
Title and Reference – PCC/D/036
Subject: Mental Health Triage – Force Control Room Funding
Report of: Police and Crime Commissioner
Date: 10/02/2022
Summary:
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner has agreed to fund £70,000 towards the Mental Health Triage Nurses in the Control Room for April 2022 – March 2023. This funding is split between the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Bedfordshire Police Force. Due to the importance of these roles it has been agreed that Bedfordshire Police Force will be mainstreaming the funding for these posts into their budget for 2023/24 onwards.
This directly links with the Police and Crime Plan:
Priority II – Recruitment and retention of police officers – providing support to Force Control Room.
improve residents’ experience with police service delivery but also relieve some of the demand pressures on our control room, police staff and police officers. This will free up capacity, potentially cut costs and improve staff welfare.
Priority IV – Placing residents and victims at centre of policing priorities
It is crucial that each individual is supported appropriately throughout the criminal justice system and beyond.
